Modex Automation specialised in the design and manufacture of control equipment for the standby diesel generator and process control industries. The company – originally based in Hayling Island, Hampshire, UK – became part of the Murphy group in 1997.
Much of the Modex range, including the popular Autostart and Keystart controls, is still manufactured under the Murphy brand. Most technical information about engine/generator controls, AC trip relays and earth leakage trips is located in the Murphy catalogue under 'generator controls' (section 75).
