Most Murphy product sales bulletins and installation data is published as .PDF (portable document format) files, created using Adobe® Acrobat® version 5.0, 6.0 or 7.0. PDF files are usually smaller in size than the original documents, allowing quicker download/display without significant loss of print quality.
To display these files, your computer must be loaded with PDF viewing software such as Adobe Acrobat v7.0. The basic (reader only) version of this software is available as a free-of-charge download from Adobe: click here to transfer to the Adobe Acrobat Reader web page, and follow the instructions for download and installation.
Once installed correctly, Acrobat Reader should automatically run when selecting (or hyperlinking to) a PDF file - clicking on a product link causes Acrobat to download and display the file within your browser (usually within a new window). Acrobat also usually displays a toolbar at the top of the Window: use the toolbar buttons to print the PDF document, save it to disk, resize the display, etc. (Attempts to use the browser drop-down menus or toolbars to print, save, etc, will not usually work.)
The size of our PDF documents is between 50 Kb and several Mb, and the download/viewing time will therefore vary. Documents with higher graphical/bitmap content are typically larger. We have tried to highlight links to large files (over 500 Kb) with bold text e.g.: CASCADE installation and operation - 670 kb. If you have problems downloading or viewing the information, please contact our technical support staff, who will be able to email, fax or post the documents to you.
Paper size
Most Murphy literature is designed for printing on US letter paper (8" wide by 11" high). Printing to A4 paper (210mm x 297mm) will occasionally cause slight 'cut-off' of information in the margins: if your printer driver has a "shrink to fit" feature, select this feature to avoid cut-off on A4 paper.
